Some thoughts about light and architecture
I always dream of creating universally wonderful experiences through the use of light.
In a totally dark room, your perception of what goes on around you is close to zero – it is rather like being weightless. There is no focus point. Only darkness. Without light, our visual experience is limited – to almost nothing. But as soon as the slightest opening for light appears, you begin to perceive the space. You start to get an idea of what the room is actually about.
An immense number of factors influence our perception. Through the conscious process of working with light, those factors can be manipulated in predefined ways to create countless perceptions of not only size, colour and space, but also of moods, atmospheres, feelings.
When succesful, the result is a universally wonderful experiences.
Light changes everything.
